Iljir Deda, associate of the Institute for Humanities from Vienna, says that the national unity of Albanians is not possible, but that is why integration within Albanians is possible.

– What Kosovo and Albania can do is integration among Albanians. This is very different from a union. But you cannot do your integration without wider regional integration. We have had those mechanisms for a long time, but we are not working in that direction. As humans, we are experts at missing opportunities. We don’t learn from the past. We have political relations and no members of other nations work to publicly push each other. There were no conflicts like this one between the prime minister of Kosovo and the prime minister of Albania, because they don’t get along. Other nations do not allow themselves that. This is a very big mistake – said Deda.

He added that political integration in one country is impossible in this world order, but integration with other nations is.

– The Western world also supports this integration. There can be no integration between Albanians without integration with Macedonians, Serbs, Montenegrins and Bosniaks. We are this region where peoples want to have their own nation states. But that policy got its response. However, you have the tools to live in a space with the same rules, where the barriers that exist between you disappear – said Deda.
