DeepL CEO Jarek Kutilovsky said, “Applying DeepL’s strengths of quality and security to real-time voice translation was a new challenge from a business perspective.” “We have been working closely with our customers through our beta program to provide solutions that solve their problems.”
He continued, “DeepL is a leader in text translation, but real-time voice translation is another story. “When translating speech in real time, inaccurate translation and poor user experience can occur due to inaccurate input, pronunciation problems, latency, etc., just as errors often occur when we actually have a conversation,” he said. “DeepL “We built a solution with this in mind from the beginning so that companies can break down language barriers and communicate in multiple languages as needed,” he added.
The launch of DeepL Voice is DeepL’s first attempt to enter the voice-based translation field. The features of the two products released by DeepL are as follows.
- DeepL Voice for Meetings : Meeting attendees can speak in their preferred language and other attendees can check the content with real-time translated subtitles. The explanation is that by having all meeting participants communicate in their native language, it leads to clearer communication and higher participation, helping communication that was previously difficult.
- DeepL Voice for Conversations : This is a mobile solution for 1:1 face-to-face conversations. Subtitle translation is provided in two viewing modes, so two people can easily check the translated content at the same time on one device.
DeepL explained that in order to ensure a high level of quality and accuracy suitable for business, the newly introduced voice technology is also based on an AI model learned from a wide data set that takes into account various accents and environments.
DeepL Voice was launched for business subscribers around the world. Voice translation currently supports 13 languages, including Korean, English, German, Japanese, Swedish, Dutch, French, Turkic, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Italian, and is scheduled to expand in the future. In the case of real-time subtitle translation, all 33 languages currently supported by DeepL Translator are applied.
Christine Aubrey, internationalization coordinator for French bakery brand Brioche Pasquier, who participated as a beta tester, said, “Before DeepL Voices, it was not easy to encourage global branches to participate in company projects. “We were able to bridge the gap and promote teamwork.”
