Demand for train travel in Romania, 66% lower than the European average

“Efficiency” on the railway: delays from a few minutes to over an hour and a half at train arrivals at the North Station, the largest railway junction, in the middle of the holiday season, announces Ziarul Financiar.

In the midst of the holiday season, CFR Călători trains are delayed from a few minutes to more than an hour and a half, according to the data from the trains from the North Station, the largest railway junction.

What are the most requested railway lines?

On Sunday, the online departures/arrivals table of CFR Călători showed delays of 90 minutes for the Craiova-Bucureşti Nord train, while the Iaşi train (which takes over six and a half hours anyway) was over half an hour late and the de Pitesti was 40 minutes late.

And the trains from Braşov or Constanţa had delays upon arrival at the North Station, on some of the most requested railway lines. Moreover, Bucharest-Constanța is the railway line that was renovated with one billion euros and that has 2.9 million passengers annually, according to the latest data.

The average commercial speed of passenger trains is 46 km/h at network level.
