Democratic Party Utilizes People Power Party’s ‘Self-Destruction’: “Special Investigation Needed for Kim Gun-hee and Han Dong-hoon Comment Team Suspicions”

Park Chan-dae: “If the illegal comment team is true, it is a state corruption and a serious crime.”

The Democratic Party of Korea is targeting the ruling party by raising the ‘unsolicited revelations’ that broke out during the People Power Party’s national convention. The People Power Party’s ‘self-restraint’ is providing prey to the Democratic Party.

At the party’s floor strategy meeting held at the National Assembly on the 16th, Democratic Party acting leader and floor leader Park Chan-dae said, “There is testimony and evidence that Ms. Kim Kun-hee also operated a comment team, and that People Power Party party leader candidate Han Dong-hoon also operated a comment team when he was the Minister of Justice,” and “The truth must be revealed through an investigation.”

He continued, “If it is true that an illegal comment team was operated, it would be the worst state corruption that would destroy the democracy and constitutional order of the Republic of Korea, an act of undermining the national flag, and a serious crime.” He emphasized, “We must immediately launch an investigation, and if the investigative authorities are unwilling, the truth must be revealed even through a special prosecutor’s investigation.”

This is interpreted as meaning that the suspicions surrounding the operation of the comment team may also be added to the investigation during the subsequent discussion of the ‘Han Dong-hoon Special Prosecutor Act’ proposed by the Fatherland Innovation Party as a party platform.

Democratic Party Policy Committee Chairman Jin Sung-joon criticized the People Power Party leadership candidate joint speech the day before where a melee broke out between supporters, saying, “This is an issue that the entire party must reflect on and apologize to the public,” and “It is truly regrettable that something like this is happening in the primary where a party selects its leadership in the 21st century.”

At the joint speech of the People Power Party representative candidates for the Chungcheong region held in Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province on the 15th, a fight broke out in the hall as some attendees shouted “traitor” during candidate Han Dong-hoon’s speech.

Park Sung-joon, the Democratic Party’s senior deputy floor leader, said, “The ruling party’s national convention should feature language of future vision and policies, but instead, language of contamination is running rampant. In the end, it led to a brawl.” He added, “The emergence of the theory of treason and the stigmatization of traitors are typical symptoms of a period of declining power.”

He continued, “Historically, one of the symptoms of a country in difficulty or decline is when ‘relatives’ make statements,” and argued, “President Yoon Seok-yeol failed to prevent his mother-in-law Choi Eun-soon from being arrested for falsifying her bankbook balance, and failed to properly manage Ms. Kim Kun-hee’s personnel intervention, stock price manipulation, and suspicions of accepting luxury handbags.”

The People Power Party leadership candidates continued their battle outside the National Assembly today.

Candidate Won Hee-ryong appeared on TV Chosun’s YouTube channel ‘Kang Punch’ on this day and brought up the suspicion that candidate Han Dong-hoon operated a ‘public opinion creation team’ while he was the Minister of Justice, and stated, “Even if candidate Han is elected as the representative, the floodgates have already been opened, so there is no choice but to lead to an investigation.”

He also claimed, “If the public opinion creation team actually ran, there could be many legal problems,” and “It would be the same as Druking, except the difference is whether the program was run or not.”

In an interview with Channel A’s radio show “Political Signal” that day, one candidate said, “What I find devastating is that candidate Won Hee-ryong is jumping on board (with raising suspicions),” and “When I saw it in the TV Chosun interview, I asked (candidate Won) for the basis, and he said, ‘There is no basis. I was just watching the TV news.’ This is not how politics should be done.”

Regarding the clash between supporters at the joint speech conference on the 15th, one candidate claimed, “At the time, I was giving a speech so I didn’t know, but later I saw that (supporters of candidate Won Hee-ryong) had planned it and caused a commotion.”
