India’s north has become hot again–Eastern state of Manipur. Last Sunday, a young man was killed in the police firing to disperse the agitated crowd in Ziribam district of the state. Moreover, party offices of BJP and Congress were set on fire.

Meanwhile, chairs entered the office of the two parties–Tables and other furniture were also set on fire. Earlier, the agitated students vandalized the BJP office in the capital city of Imphal.
Six people were abducted from the Assam border area of Jiribam on Monday last week. Accusations were aimed at the Christian Kuki group. A few days later, the bodies of the six people were found floating in the river. And with that new tension begins.
People of the Hindu Meitei community started protesting after the body was found in the river. An angry crowd attacked the houses of six MLAs of the state last Saturday. even, They also attempted to attack Chief Minister N Biren Singh’s ancestral home at Luangshangbam in Imphal East district. On the other hand, Dead bodies were seen floating in the Jiri river in Jiribam district on Sunday too.
One of them was the body of a woman in her sixties and the other was that of a child. The Meitei group warned the Manipur government on Sunday, The protests will intensify if the accused are not arrested within 24 hours. At one stage, from Sunday night one incident of violence started happening in Ziribam district. Manipur Police has so far arrested 25 people for their involvement in the violence. They are all from Imphal East, Residents of Imphal West and Bishnupur area. The capital is Imphal–Curfew has been issued in wide areas.
Internet service is also closed. At least five churches in Jiribam on Sunday night within the curfew, school, Petrol pumps and houses were vandalized.
