Denim Trends 2025: ‘Indigo AI’

The denim trend presentation during the last edition of the Texhibition sourcing fair in Istanbul had a telling subtitle: Indigo AI. Here, fabrics designed by artificial intelligence took center stage, demonstrating the versatility and innovation that machine learning can bring to fashion’s color palette. More and more designers are incorporating this futuristic approach into their collections and today artificial intelligence (AI) is an integral part of the design process. It is not that AI eliminates the need for a real designer, but rather it supports his or her creativity.

Designers Selvi Yiğci and Gönül Altunışık, co-founders of Istanbul’s independent fashion house Alldenims, presented AI-created designs as part of next year’s denim trends. “As we witness the growing collaboration between AI and the fashion industry, it is clear that the possibilities are endless. AI fashion is more than a passing trend; it even allows brands to accurately predict trends.”

“It marks the beginning of a new era where customers can optimize their supply chains, personalize their shopping experiences and get AI-driven recommendations,” said Alldenims co-founders. They believe that “artificial intelligence will reshape the industry and increase efficiency, sustainability and creativity in the fashion world.”

Pink, purple and pastel shades on the rise

The most striking trend is probably “Lux Deluxe”, which focuses on pink and purple tones to emphasize the digital aspect, the most prominent colors according to the designers. The main color is a glowing shade between pink and purple. “This color carries progressive and provocative attitudes and adds a multi-sensory touch to our virtual future,” Yiğci explains. Supporting shades include purple, meta-mauve, pink flash, cyber lime, glowing green and gentian blue.

“Resurrection” is all about innovation and perhaps a rethinking of denim, given the dominance of pastels in this trend. Cream tones and light blue, supported by indigo, give this trend, although unusual, a refreshing note.

“Shade 101” is a playful trend with an ’80s-inspired color palette of baby pink, deep yellow and light blue, supported by a darker shade of blue. Irregular cutouts, seams and quirky arrangements create statement pieces.

Unisex still in demand

Another trend is “Significant Void”, which is dominated by darker shades and unisex designs. Yiğci and Altunışık are confident that “AI will reshape gender-neutral fashion with a timeless, scannable language.”

“New Blood, Old Ways” goes for a full denim look, but with unusual appearances and exaggerated dry processes that lead to monochrome, batik-like looks. The trend also plays with oversized proportions.

As the name suggests, “Rise and Shine” combines shiny and transparent creations also made with the help of AI. “Up & Downs” plays with the power of opposites: digitalized prints meet classic denim looks. “I-Witness” focuses on patterns made with AI, combined with striking customization and details.

Futuristic and metallic looks

“Macroorganisms” revolves around ombre transitions, fluorescent shadows and mechanical highlights, which give denim pieces a futuristic look.

“Cyber-crafted” plays with laser patterns and AI, while “Nature vs Nurture” can be seen as a back-to-the-roots trend. “Modern Day Tribes” emphasizes the mysterious, emotionless and robotic through metallic shades and effects and unisex creations.

“Back to the Future” not only has a futuristic and nomadic look, but also focuses on solid colors and shows that the same color in different pieces worn together is now acceptable.

Finally, “Chaos and Order” plays with distortion, chaos and alien-inspired looks combined with ordered patterns and designs. “Aggressive Silhouettes” is all about mysterious yet daring looks, symbiotic cuts and elongated silhouettes.

“Designers have taken up the challenge of incorporating these futuristic textures into their collections and are creating garments that not only look impressive, but also tell a story of sustainability and technological advancement,” concluded Yiğci and Altunışık during the denim trend presentation.
