Following Microsoft, DenizBank also published a statement announcing that the problems were being resolved gradually.
What had happened?
Today, there has been a large-scale IT crisis that has affected the entire world. This problem is so big that it has negatively affected countless sectors in many countries around the world, including giant companies, airports, banks, payment institutions, food chains, media organizations and even stock exchanges. The source of the problem is related to CrowdStrike, which provides cybersecurity software to Microsoft, and crashes occur on devices running the Windows operating system.
Windows machines around the world are experiencing blue screen errors when booting up. The issue is being blamed on a problem with its Falcon Sensor tool, security firm CrowdStrike has confirmed.
The full statement sent by DenizBank to media organizations is as follows:
“Dear Member of the Press,
The problem, which affected all institutions and organizations using CrowdStrike, a cybersecurity product integrated with Microsoft on a global scale, and caused an interruption in our Bank’s systems, is being resolved gradually.
The glitch in question occurred as a result of the latest version of the global software used by national and international important organizations in the world and in Turkey (such as banking, retail, airlines, e-commerce). Our bank also uses the relevant version in line with the importance it attaches to information security.
In the current situation, CrowdStrike has fixed the system error; Our bank’s systems have also started to be activated in a controlled and gradual manner. Our work continues so that you can access banking services completely as soon as possible through our branches and other digital channels.
Once the issue is resolved in all our channels, both our branches and our General Directorate will remain open until the final transaction is completed.
We apologize to our valued customers for this disruption, which was not caused by our bank, and we respectfully announce to the public that the necessary measures have been taken to prevent it from happening again.
Thank you for your understanding and sensitivity.
Regards,
“DenizBank”
