The Lynk & Co 02 is a crossover hatchback with an aerodynamic roof shape. It was designed in Gothenburg, Sweden under the direction of Stefan Rosén. Lynk & Co riders have a key focus on design and the design team took into account the input and wishes of their customers from the start. In addition, the 02 is the result of the further development of the Lynk & Co design language, a second generation of the distinct DNA. This new DNA was first expressed in the concept car The Next Day. Lynk & Co The Next Day The design of the 02 is almost as daring as that of the much larger, wider and lower concept car. And that is worth mentioning, because creating good properties for a small car is complex. The challenges with interior space and packaging are numerous. The 02 looks dynamic, but is also spacious and practical enough to accommodate adults in the back, despite its compact size and steeply sloping roofline. The exterior design of Lynk & Co 02 is characterized by bold, modern lines and the aforementioned dynamic silhouette. The design team of the crossover hatchback was inspired by fashion, technology and architecture. The Lynk & Co 02 has therefore become simple in design. Clean, sculptural body panels have been used, with very minimal surface transitions and changes. Hard, high-tech features have been installed within those surfaces. These give the calm design fine defined details – such as the headlights and also the rear lights, which are also spoiler. Lynk & Co 02 Lynk & Co 02 Lynk & Co 02 The low-placed grille is minimalist and equipped with an active shutter that contributes to the high efficiency. A pure design line, which comes from the The Next Day concept, runs like a beam of light across the front of the car and guides the eye along the side of the coupe-crossover. Technical look The lower part of the 02 has a technical look, due to the high-gloss black body cladding that is applied all around. The active air intake is housed at the front. On the doors, the side panels contribute to reducing the visual weight of the short, high car. The kick-up here also effectively gives the whole thing a waist. This in itself is not a revolutionary idea, but the components have been applied with great skill to the 02. The wheels are mounted ‘through’ the black parts and are therefore part of the technical, futuristic side of the car and therefore also designed. They have much harder, more technical surfaces than the body of the 02. The upper part, the body, has a softer character and, according to the design studio, more human-oriented. Lynk & Co 02 Lynk & Co 02 Lynk & Co 02 must improve its position With the 02, Lynk & Co must improve its position worldwide and the focus on design plays an important role in this. Taking into account the input and wishes of customers, while also sharpening one’s own ideas – the Lynk & Co design language – proves to be an effective design method. The 02 features bold, modern ideas, consisting of strongly executed sculptural concepts for the soft surfacing and well-placed high-tech features as the icing on the cake. Job well done!
