Two detachments of the Ministry of National Defense (MApN), equipped with rescue boats and trucks, intervened, in the last 24 hours, in Galati county, in support of the population affected by the floods.
According to a statement issued on Saturday by MApN, the 10 Genius Brigade from Brăila intervened in the Slobozia Conachi locality, at the request of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, with a detachment of soldiers, motor boats and other specific rescue equipment.
Another detachment of soldiers from the 10th Geniu Brigade and the 528th ISR Regiment “Vlad Ţepeş” from Brăila intervened with 10 boats and trucks in the town of Pechea in Galati.
Also, at the request of the National Administration of State Reserves and Special Problems, MApN ensures the transport with 10 trucks and eight trailers of some materials from the State Reserves warehouses in Bucharest and Bacău to the affected areas in Galati County, the quoted source says.
At the same time, two high-tonnage cranes were made available at the loading points in Bacău and unloading in Galati.
“All the military units in Galati and Brăila counties are ready to intervene at any time with trucks, boats and equipment necessary for evacuation and rescue, at the request of the central and local authorities responsible for managing emergency situations. MApN constantly monitors the situation in the territory, having forces and means of intervention prepared to act, at the request of the authorities, in other areas of the country as well, in the event of the manifestation of similar situations, as a result of the heavy rains forecast for the next period”, states the Ministry of Defense.
