The new members of the Pixel 9 series that Google plans to officially show us are not saying much on August 13, as as we already know already in the works it has a total of four new and upgraded models. We recently came across a huge, detailed leak regarding the cameras of these devices. Specifically, this information is an “offer” from him Android Authority and us reveal the sensors and lenses back they will bring the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 XL, and even the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
The leak includes both the front and main cameras and we can see, with Google preparing a major overhaul for all devices. However, the main sensor will remain the same as it was in the Pixel 8 series.
The manufacturing of these sensors has once again been undertaken by Sony and Samsung, with the duo of Pro models having 50 MP IMX858 front and rear. The super-old IMX386 that was responsible for ultra-wide shots is finally gone, which means higher resolution and image size.
Interestingly enough, the Pixel 9 Pro and Pro XL get the new telephoto sensor, while the Fold sticks to the old sensor. Android Authority speculated that this is because the foldable is 2mm thinner than its predecessor and there is naturally no room for a larger sensor.
Check out the features of the new sensors compared to last year’s:
The source also revealed that Google may eventually enable them video recordings in 8K resolution. In theory, both the Tensor G3 chipset and the Samsung GNK sensor were able to handle it, and now Google is finally ready to take the plunge. We expect all four Pixel 9 phones to be more expensive in Europe, compared to last year’s flagships.
