Development platform GitLab is looking for a buyer – Emerce

Development platform GitLab, of which Google parent Alphabet is one of the shareholders, is considering a sale, it reports. ReutersOne of the candidates is said to be Datadog.

GitLab’s platform allows developers to build and manage software using a single tool. It has more than 30 million registered users and is used by more than half of the Fortune 100 companies, according to its website.

Its headquarters are in San Francisco, but all its employees work remotely. The company is led by Dutchman Sid Sijbrandij, who holds 45.51 percent of the shares.

The value of the American company is estimated at 8 billion dollars. Alphabet has a voting interest of 22 percent.

Any deal is still far away and could still fall through, Reuters writes. None of the parties involved want to comment.
