After ServusTV left the German market on January 1, 2024, the new broadcaster DF1 took over its transmission capacities in cable and partly via satellite. At the end of the year, DF1 will switch off its SD signal in German cable networks.
DF1 ensures that series previously shown on ServusTV Deutschland remain available. This is primarily about in-house productions such as “Bergwelten” and “Heimatleuchte”. In addition, DF1 has entered into a cooperation with DAZN and can therefore also score points with exclusive sports broadcasts on free TV.
Incidentally, today’s DF1 has nothing in common with the German pay-TV provider of the same name, which was active between 1996 and 1999. DF1 no longer has anything to do with Leo Kirch, who died in 2011, but is an offer from DF1 Medien GmbH, which was founded in 2023. The company headquarters is at Beta Straße 1 in Unterföhring. Until 20 years ago, this was the headquarters of the KirchGroup – at least that’s a small thing they have in common.
DF1 in SD?
Satellite viewers will be surprised that DF1 is now also announcing its exit from SD at the end of the year. From the beginning, DF1 was only available in HD via Astra. After all, DF1 has only taken over the HD transmission capacity from ServusTV Deutschland at 19.2 degrees East. The one from ServusTV Deutschland SD has since been used by another TV provider.
Who will be affected by the SD shutdown of DF1?
While DF1 can only be seen in full HD resolution via Astra, it is also available in SD on German cable TV networks. Only this SD distribution in cable will be switched off at the end of the year. Of course, DF1 is also represented in HD on the cable networks.
How can the SD signal be recognized?
In the SD version, the HD addition is missing in the DF1 logo. If it is available, you are already watching DF1 on the correct channel.
What to do if DF1 HD is missing?
If DF1 HD cannot be found in the channel list, a channel search must be carried out. However, if you use the tuner built into the TV, it may be that all channel lists, including the favorites lists, are deleted when the automatic channel search starts.
Where can you find DF1 HD on the major cable providers?
If you have a cable connection from Vodafone, you will find DF1 HD either on program position 11 or 109 or 124.
If there is an existing PYUR cable connection, DF1 HD can be found in memory locations 17 or 18.
