Dialogue is not about bloodshed: Coordinator Hasnat Abdullah

Hasnat Abdullah, one of the coordinators of the quota reform movement, has rejected the interest expressed by Law Minister Anisul Haque to sit in dialogue amid the ongoing movement of students demanding quota reform.

He wrote on Facebook, ‘Treading blood is not dialogue’. He gave this status shortly after the Law Minister’s briefing on Thursday (July 18) afternoon.

In 45 minutes, his status got 3,500 shares, 1,500 comments and 8,500 people reacted.

Earlier on Thursday (July 18), Law Minister Anisul Haque said, “We have a principled consensus on quota reform.” We are willing to discuss this with students at any time.

Earlier, in another Facebook post, he urged the countrymen to open WiFi with the support of the protesting students.

He said, ‘With the support of the agitating students, I am calling on the countrymen to open WiFi. Come forward to face the digital crackdown.’

Asif Mahmud also said, ‘Tiger cubs of private universities are responding appropriately to government forces’ attempts to take over public universities. The zeal with which you have resisted will inspire the rest.’
