Shocked?
One Lithuanian stated on his Facebook account that Yemen’s Houthis have stopped their operations because of D. Trump’s victory.
“Shortly after Trump’s victory, the Iranian-backed Houthis reportedly announced a ceasefire
Former President D. Trump hasn’t even returned to the White House yet, but the news of his historic victory in the US presidential election has already shocked the leadership of the Iran-backed Houthi rebels. X reports indicate that the rebels have declared a cease-fire and ended a year of missile and drone strikes against Western-affiliated commercial and military vessels through an important maritime strait in the southern part of the Red Sea.
The netizen referred to an X account called Defense Arab. In her description is indicatedthat it is a non-governmental and non-profit organization. Here, a Houthi spokesperson is allegedly quoted as saying that the operations in international waters were only of a defensive nature and are therefore being definitively terminated. Trump himself is not mentioned in this post.
Operations were not interrupted
There is no evidence that the Iranian-backed Yemeni rebel group has ceased operations in the Red Sea.
Reliable international and local sources did not write about such statements or ceasefires. Also, according to the Pentagon, as early as Wednesday, Houthi rebels in Bab al-Mandab strait with drones and missiles shelled two US destroyers (warships). This attack took place after US aviation blows for the Houthi weapons depots.
On November 7, two days after Trump’s election victory, Houthi leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi announcedthat the group’s “operations continue in the seas and in the depths of the occupied territories, having decided to deal with the camouflaged operations of Israeli ships.”
Houthi spokesman Mohammed al-Bukhaiti earlier statedthat the group would not stop attacks on Israeli-affiliated ships in the Red Sea. He said the Houthis would stop their attacks only if Israel’s “crimes in the Gaza Strip are stopped and the population is allowed to supply food, medicine and fuel.”
Hussites from 2023 plans attacks on Israeli-affiliated shipping in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden in November. This is part of the region-wide fallout from the devastating war in the Gaza Strip between Israel and the Islamist group Hamas, with which other paramilitary groups are in solidarity.
The United States and other countries have deployed warships to help protect shipping from Houthi strikes, but direct attacks on American warships are relatively rare.
Washington’s forces have also launched attacks against the Houthi group to weaken its ability to attack ships and are trying to seize weapons before they reach the rebels, but their attacks have not stopped.
15min verdict: lie. There is no evidence that the Houthis have ceased military operations in international waters. After Trump’s victory, they staged an attack on US warships.
