Two legends united in one world. Does it even work? And is it Quake in Doom or Doom in Quake? And isn’t it already a bit of chaos?
Actually, not even (yet). The whole point is that you can now go through all the episodes of Quak with Doom’s arsenal and other props. Quake had to be modified a bit to better connect these two worlds. For example, the quack enemy Enforcer, who normally operates with a laser gun, now replaces the chaingunner, the grumpy guy with a rotary machine gun from Doom. The level has been slightly modified here and there (just the first episode so far) to better match the character of the Doom carving, but there’s nothing stopping you from cutting the entire Duak. Dukethat’s the name of this mod (the name is, admittedly, a bit strange).
However, it’s not a completely original idea, because the QDOOM mod was recently released, where instead you played Quak in Doom together with his monsters (even in combination with the colorful inhabitants of Doom). QDOOM released as an official mod for the re-released Quake (2021) as a celebration of Doom’s thirtieth birthday. Well, now I’m starting to mess around with it too. In short, you can play Doom in Quake (Duake) and Quake in Doom (QDOOM). Huh!
