Did you shop at these eshops? You probably lost money

Fraudsters they don’t keep you waiting long on the Internet and regularly come up with new tricks to get personal data and money from gullible users. One of the most common ways they do this is through fake domains and phishing sites. These websites look very similar to the original, but their only goal is to rip you off. The list of the latest fake websites was brought by the portal ExlexticIQ.

Fraudsters usually create a website that looks almost identical to the original one. The domain may differ only minimally, for example by changing a letter “o” after the number “0” many don’t even notice. These fake sites may then ask you to enter your login details, payment information or credit card number. In November, the number of such sites increased, thanks to the campaign Black Friday. Therefore, on these websites, you will often come across tempting (even unrealistic) discounts that easily reach up to 90%.

How to protect yourself?

  1. Website address check: Always verify that the website address is correct. Fraudulent domains can look very similar to the original, but they always contain a small change.
  2. Security certificate (HTTPS): Verify that the website uses the secure HTTPS protocol. A missing security certificate is a warning sign.
  3. Do not provide sensitive information via email: No serious company will ask you for personal data via e-mail or SMS.
  4. Two-factor authentication: Activate two-factor authentication if possible. This will increase the security of your account.
