Dieting has been good for this bus

Irizar presented its latest electric bus at FIAA, the international tourist and bus fair that started on Tuesday. At the event in Madrid, the manufacturer from the Basque Country exhibited the latest generation version of the i3.

It is a low-entry bus that fully represents the sustainable intercity transport of the future. It is quiet and has zero emissions. With its slightly more aggressive front part and sharper lines, it is fully in line with other Irizar models” – read in the announcement sent to Irizar Vezess. Not only the design, but also the frame structure and body were changed. Wherever possible, the engineers used materials made from lighter, carbon fiber-reinforced composite plastic. Thanks to this, the weight of the model was significantly reduced by at least one ton.

The bus meets the latest GSR2 regulations, which includes the use of external cameras and sensors. The bus also complies with R155 and R156 European cyber security and vehicle software update standards. In Hungarian, the bus has made great progress not only in terms of driving support systems, but also in terms of digital safety.

The i3 was renewed not only in its appearance and structure, but also in the driver’s environment. In the spirit of this, it received a completely new dashboard. In addition, the electronic architecture of the vehicle enables data analysis to detect events and implement preventive maintenance measures.

The body of the new electric Irizar i3 is made in a self-supporting configuration and with different electric chassis. However, it is still available with diesel, biodiesel, HVO, hybrid or gas drive. The suburban model version three kinds It rolls off the production line in lengths of 12.05, 12.75 and 14.9 meters. In the largest version, 53-57 chairs can be available.

The Irizar electric bus has been on the market for quite some time, as it was originally introduced in 2014. Then only in urban design. However, that version could only travel 200-250 km on a single charge. The recently presented intercity design has a range of 400 kilometers, which means that it will be perfectly suitable for traveling longer distances in the agglomeration environment.

According to Irizar’s calculations, 33,000 liters of fuel and at least 88 tons of carbon dioxide emissions can be saved with just one electric bus.
