On January 1, 2025, a family tragedy shook the city of Apt, in Vaucluse. Dmitri Boetto, the French actor known for his roles in the Netflix series So far, so good et Domestic scenesis currently suspected of committing murder.
A violent altercation in Apt
The incident took place in the center of Apt, in front of a downtown café. An argument would have broken out between the two menquickly became violent. According to witnesses, one of the protagonists was severely beaten and fell to the ground. When emergency services arrived, they found the victim, a man in his fifties, unconscious, with visible signs of violence, including a frontal headbutt. Transported to hospital, the man was died later that day from his injuries. The police quickly began their investigation.
Dmitri Boetto, originally from Apt and now based in the Paris region, was arrested a few hours after the incident. He was arrested at Lyon-Saint-Exupéry station, while he was traveling by train from Avignon and towards Marne-la-Vallée. The police, having acted on letters rogatory, intercepted the actor at the station around 8:00 p.m..
A legal past and a troubled journey
The 51-year-old actor, who seemed to let himself be arrested without resistance, was taken into police custody. During his interrogation, he acknowledged a family disagreement with the victim, his ex-brother-in-law, but denied having any knowledge of the seriousness of the situation. He explained that he did not know that his actions had led to the man’s death.
This isn’t the first time Dmitri Boetto has been in the spotlight for dark reasons. In a 2023 interview, he had revealed to have served several years in prison for acts of “criminal association” and “possession of weapons”.
Although he starred in popular productions like So far, so good on Netflix, or movies like The Last Queen and Burn-outhis career could now be tarnished by this tragic affair.
The investigation continues
The investigation, opened for murder by the Avignon public prosecutor’s office, should intensify in the coming days. A Autopsy of the victim was scheduled for this Friday at the Nîmes Medico-Legal Institute. The authorities are mainly seeking to determine whether the altercation which led to the man’s death was premeditated or whether it degenerated out of anger.
Dmitri Boetto, meanwhile, remains in police custody and could face serious charges. If the autopsy confirms that the victim died as a result of the blows received, the actor could be charged with homicide.
