Diorama

In the Diorama game, we build dioramas in a pleasant pixelated style. We have absolute freedom of how and what we will place in our diorama, and the choice of furniture and decorative elements is really huge. Almost everything can be adjusted, resized and rotated. We can also change weather conditions (sunny, rainy, foggy, snowy) and time of day—day or night.

Apart from making space, the game has no particular goal. There are no timers, tasks or missions. You can build or experiment as much as you like.

The variety of facilities is impressive. You can place furniture, smaller decorative items, plants, trinkets and even dolls inside the diorama. Some of the objects are interactive—for example, you can play a little tune on the piano.

Diorama offers the option to connect with a friend and build and decorate a diorama together. There’s also a monthly building contest—currently running through the end of October, and the theme is “Spooky.”

In the Diorama game, we move using the WASD keys on the keyboard. The placement of furniture and objects is done with the left mouse click, while with the right click we can adjust most of the furniture by changing its color. Use the middle key to make a copy of the object.

The R key is used to rotate and mirror furniture, F – to search for furniture by entering names or keywords, and E – to show or hide the interface. In addition to flipping and mirroring, furniture cannot be rotated; you need to delete it and reinstall it.

Diorama has Steam achievements, but no trading card yet. The game has plenty of video settings, including an option to reduce motion, which can help gamers who suffer from motion sickness. There are also options for color correction, including several preset styles (default, soft, pastel, vibrant and muted), which is rarely seen in games.

If you’re a fan of building games, Diorama might be the right choice for you. It offers the opportunity to build and decorate indoor and outdoor spaces in the same pleasant pixelated style. Really, what’s not to like about that?
