The 78-year-old director, screenwriter, visual artist and musician David Lynch said a few months ago that he was suffering from emphysema. Lynch is no longer able to direct movies or TV series, at least not on location:

“I tried to quit many, many times, but it only succeeded with the diagnosis. I realized I would die in a week if I didn’t stop smoking. Living with emphysema is not easy. I can barely walk across the room. I feel like I have a plastic bag on my head all the time.”
