Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) announced on the 2nd that it held the ’12th Uijeongbu City Harmony Climbing Competition’ in which disabled and non-disabled people climbed the trails of Jikdong Park together.
This competition, hosted by the Uijeongbu City Disabled Sports Association and organized by the Uijeongbu City Disabled Mountaineering Federation, had about 600 people with disabilities and non-disabled people hanging out together and having a great time in the scenery of Jikdong Park, where colorful autumn leaves were spectacular.
Mayor Kim Dong-geun and the guests who attended the opening ceremony on this day mingled with people with disabilities and climbed the approximately 3km section from the Uijeongbu Arts Center to the Jikdong Park soccer field and had a time of communication and harmony.
In this competition, Uijeongbu City and the organizers paid special attention to safety management, including carefully checking and strengthening the hiking course with disabled people who will participate in the competition. In addition, many volunteers worked with disabled families to ensure smooth hiking for disabled people, successfully completing the competition without any safety accidents.
Mayor Kim Dong-geun said, “I am glad that disabled people who usually lack opportunities for outdoor activities can go hiking in the beautiful fall foliage and fresh autumn breeze.” He added, “We will continue to provide many places where disabled and non-disabled people can socialize to make Uijeongbu City a happy place for disabled people.” “I will work hard to make it happen,” he said.
