Disney+ changes the release date at the last moment

Announced for December 3, 2024 in the United States and for December 4 in France, the series Skeleton Crew saw its release date changed at the last moment by Disney+.

Skeleton Crew: the series has been brought forward

The latest series Star Wars have aroused increasingly weak enthusiasm among fans of the license… The failure of The Acolyte earlier in the year goes all the worse as the series was to be a showcase of Lucasfilm’s abilities to explore the exciting period of the Upper Republic. The series was a blast – despite some absolutely impressive lightsaber fights – and it was canceled at the end of its first season, angering the cast. Certainly, Disney+ and Lucasfilm need to get their act together.

As such, the next series Star Warstitled Skeleton Crew and which integrates the Mandoverse started by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni with The Mandalorian, enough to raise the hopes of the most skeptical fans. Designed as a tribute to the productions of the legendary Amblin Entertainment studio created by Steven Spielberg and which shaped the entertainment cinema of the 1980s/1990s with films like The Goonies, Gremlins or Back to the future, the series is directed by several renowned filmmakers who made their careers at A24.

While Skeleton Crew was expected for the night of December 3 to 4, 2024 on the Disney+ platform, Lucasfilm has decided to shake up its programming, by changing the release date. The studio headed by Kathleen Kennedy has in fact shared the broadcast schedule for the series, with a launch planned for the night of December 2 to 3. Two episodes will be broadcast on this occasion. The series will resume the slot that was initially granted to it the following week, with episode 3 which will appear on the night of December 10 to 11.

The reasons for this date change have not been communicated by Disney or Lucasfilm. However, it seems that Disney+ has confidence in its series. The platform also communicates a lot about the line up of directors called for the series. Among them is Jon Watts (Spider-Man: No Way Home), David Lowery (The Green Knight, A Ghost Story), Dianiels forest (Everything Everywhere All At Once), Jake Schreier (Thunderbolts*), Bryce Dallas Howard (The Mandalorian) and Lee Isaac Chung (to the pain).
