Disneyland Paris enters the Guinness Book of Records

On Sunday July 14, the Marne-la-Vallée amusement park broke the world record for the “largest aerial image of a fictional character formed by drones” and thus made its appearance in the famous Guinness Book of Records.

During the Bastille Day celebrations on the evening of July 14, Disneyland Paris saw things in a big way: more than 1,500 drones lit up the sky, creating a gigantic tricolor Mickey Mouse head above the famous Sleeping Beauty Castle. A technical feat rewarded by the theme park’s entry into the Guinness World Records for “the largest aerial image of a fictional character formed by drones/multirotors.”

The Disneyland Paris Spectacle teams, in collaboration with the official drone technology supplier in Europe, worked for several months to put together this 12-minute show, illustrating Disneyland Paris’s desire to exceed the expectations of its visitors more and more each year”as the park said in a press release.

References to French culture

Five representations of the most iconic scenes from Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar Animation Studios films related to France (Beauty and the Beast, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Sleeping Beauty, The Aristocats et Ratatouille) were thus offered to visitors. Several references to French culture such as the Eiffel Tower or the emblematic rose window of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris also slipped into the show.

“We are delighted and proud to have achieved this Guinness World Records title”rejoices Ben Spalding, show producer at Disneyland Paris, in a press release. This is a testament to the creativity, innovation and hard work of our entire team. This accomplishment underscores our commitment to delivering unforgettable experiences to our visitors.”says Matthieu Robin, creative show manager at Disneyland Paris.
