Djokovic, poisoned. “I didn’t tell anyone in public…”

In an interview published Thursday in GQ, Novak Djokovic says he was “poisoned” with food, Reuters reports, according to Mediafax.

The context is related to his detention, in 2022, in a hotel in Melbourne, where there were asylum seekers, after the cancellation of the visa in the context of the pandemic, not having been vaccinated.

“I realized that in that hotel in Melbourne I was fed some food that poisoned me,” said Djokovic, who is known to strictly monitor his diet. “I discovered some things when I returned to Serbia. I didn’t tell anyone this publicly, but I was found to have very high levels of heavy metals. Heavy metals. I had lead, very high levels of lead and mercury.”

GQ stated that Australia’s Department of Home Affairs declined to comment on the matter, citing confidentiality reasons.
