Do I really have to be here until Thursday? He killed the NHL star and his brother, he described the course of the tragic collision in front of the judge – NHL – Hockey

The culprit of the tragic accident in which the star 31-year-old NHL forward Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew, who is two years younger, died, admitted before the judge that he drank five or six beers before driving.

Forty-three-year-old Sean M. Higgins of Woodstown, who was driving his vehicle while intoxicated, testified about what preceded the accident.

Johnny and Matthew were supposed to be riding their bikes on County Route 551 near the car line.

The driver of the Jeep Grand Cherokee was heading along the same road, and according to eyewitnesses, he was apparently in a hurry.

At one point he was trying to overtake the cars in front of him. Higgins entered the opposite direction and overtook one of the cars he had pulled in front of.

While attempting the same maneuver, the other car moved to the center of the road to safely bypass a pair of cyclists riding on the right side of the road.

Higgins allegedly evaluated it as the driver trying to block him in front of him.

The car decided to run from the right side, not knowing that there were two cyclists in front of it.

He then hit both of them at high speed, and they died on the spot as a result of their injuries.

His behavior during the interrogation by the judge was also shocking. At one point he asked when he would be released.

“Am I really supposed to be here until Thursday?” he responded with a deep sigh to the information that, due to the holidays, his usual 72-hour detention period had been extended.

Gaudreau and his brother were to be best men at their sister’s wedding, which was to take place over the weekend.
