September update WearOS 5 for older smart watches Pixel Watch a Pixel Watch 2 surprised many owners. Instead of improving the system, their watch ended up with a black screen during the update. These are the global versions:
- Google Pixel Watch 1: AW2A.240903.005.A2
- Google Pixel Watch 2: AW2A.240903.005.A1
Google suspended the update after reported problems and he started working on its repair. He is still working on it today and it looks like we will have to wait another week for the problem-free version to be made available. On the support website Google informs about renewing the update WearOS 5 for the first two generations of Pixel watches, but not until later this year.
In case of problems, it recommends resetting the Pixel Watch, while he also published a guide. You can also use this method for other problems with your Pixel watch, such as when you see a “something went wrong” message or forget your PIN or passcode.

The latest Pixel Watch 3 model, which is also officially sold in Slovakia, is not affected by the problematic update. If you receive information about the availability of installing a newer version of WearOS 5, you do not have to worry about your watch freezing with a black screen. No problems were reported.
