When asked whether it is possible to overdose on fruit, the German doctor Karsten Lekutat answers with an unequivocal “yes”.
We should not forget that fruit contains fructose, that is why it is so tasty and sweet.
– After all, fructose is still sugar, with all the problems that arise from too much sugar – adds Karsten. One apple makes us healthy, but three often results in a fatty liver, he explains.

When the liver becomes fatty, most people assume it’s because of alcohol. In fact, says Lekutat, in 20 to 30 percent of cases it has nothing to do with alcohol, but rather too much fructose.

People eat too little fruit. Bananas, apples, plums have much more sugar than oranges or forest fruits,” explains nutritionist Antje Gal.
She recommends five servings of fruits and vegetables a day. It is not unimportant how the fruit is consumed.
– Fresh fruit is better than processed – notes Lekutat and adds that the fruit in fruit juice has a high concentration and reaches the bloodstream faster. When you look at all the ingredients, you probably wouldn’t eat that much fruit in one meal. But in liquid form it happens very quickly.

In other words, the consumption of fruit should be adapted to the lifestyle. Anyone who wants to start the day with orange juice must also practice consuming the sugar they consume.
