Do you have Office 365 on Windows 10? Unfortunately, you’ve been out of luck since October

Users with WIndows 10 are in for another unpleasant surprise, Microsoft will also cut their Office 365 services. If you want to use the services, switch to the new OS, it says.

Microsoft continues with another salvo of ways to force users to switch to a new OS. Now he says that from October 14, 2025, the day when support for Windows 10 ends, Office 365 will also stop working on that system. You simply cannot run apps like Word, Excel, Teams or Outlook on the old system, even if you there was no problem with that in theory.

The end of security updates was to be expected, it is clear that Microsoft will not maintain two operating systems for free. However, the blocking of Office functions is an unpleasant and unexpected surprise for many users. Microsoft mentions on its blog that the only option to continue using its Office service package is to switch to a new system. So even users who pay for it through a subscription for Windows 10 updates won’t get that support? That leaves a question mark.

Users with a Microsoft 365 subscription can use web versions of applications, but locally installed programs will switch to restricted mode after 31 days without connecting to the server. So the solution is to use a not quite perfect web interface, or look elsewhere :). For example, the LibreOffice service requires almost no conditions and is free. And while you’re at it downloading alternatives, how about going straight to another operating system? For example, Linux Mint is very similar to Windows.
