Collecting old items, valuable items or downright unique items can result in juicy income but also hefty expenses.
As Sweden has been in the middle of inflation for a long time, where everything from food prices and fuel to clothes and furnishings have become more expensive, more and more people have turned to the second-hand market.
This is noticeable on the buying and selling site Tradera, where the auctions have increased significantly in certain product groups. One such is technology, where mobile phones in particular have been widely sold recently.
Both old rarities and newer models have been sold for thousands of kroner.
A Nokia N92 from 2005 was sold in 2023 for just over SEK 10,000 after the auction ended, and in the same year an Ericsson R310S was also sold for a little more than SEK 6,000.

Do you have this mobile phone? It sold for 23,000
In addition to these old classic mobiles, an iPhone 13 mini was also sold for SEK 23,000. In other words, used phones can bring a lot of money to your wallet.
In an earlier interview with News24 has Tradera’s communications manager, Sofia Hagelinexplained what she believes is the basis for the increased sales of technology and mobile phones.
– The current economy, combined with a greater awareness of the downsides of new consumption, means that more people choose used mobile phones instead of buying new ones. It is a new, modern lifestyle that more and more people are adopting.

The classic game was worth SEK 57,500
Inflation notwithstanding, it is not only mobile phones that have become popular to buy on the used market in recent years.
A really old rarity, and now classic game console, has been sold for a breathtaking amount. Nyheter24 was recently able to report that the cult game “The Legend of Zelda – A link to the past”, including the Zelda Gold Pack and the old Super Nintendo game console, was sold for over SEK 57,000 at the beginning of 2024.
When Nyheter24 then wrote about the juicy price tag for the game and game console, Hagelin elaborated more precisely how much games are actually auctioned off and bought on the site.
– Just over 100,000 computer and video games changed hands during the last quarter, that’s 1,200 games a day. In computer and video games, PS4 sells the most, followed by Nintendo Switch, XBOX 360, Nintendo Wii and NES Nintendo 8-bit. The categories Xbox 360, Nintendo Switch and Skylanders are growing the most.

The mug was sold for SEK 167,000
The more rare and limited the products that are auctioned, the higher the purchase price tends to be. That’s exactly what happened in a unique case when a seller was going to auction off china.
Almost three years ago, on March 5, 2022, a copy of a very unusual coffee mug was brought home by a buyer for a juicy sum.
– This mug with Christmas greetings from 2004 has become one of the rare jewels in the collection. It was produced in 400 copies for the Fazer cafe in Helsinki, and since the number is so limited, it is the mug that many collectors crave. Here at Tradera, in March 2022 it broke a record in its category. Fazer Moomin mug 323/400 was sold for SEK 167,000, Sofia Hagelin now reveals to Nyheter24 and continues:
– Since then it has been sold for between SEK 116,000 and SEK 145,000 on six more occasions. Breathtaking sums that might make everyone look for an extra time if it can be hidden somewhere.
That way, you know that you have a mug that is no longer sold, exists in few copies or would be a hotly sought after addition to someone’s collection – well, then you can make really big money.
