When are fireworks allowed?
In many cases, permission from the police is first and foremost required before you can start setting off fireworks. If the fireworks are to be set off in a place where there is a risk of harm to people, animals or property, permission from the police is required.
However, this permit is not always necessary in some municipalities during New Year’s Eve. Many have regulations where fireworks can be set off without a permit within a certain time frame. For example in Eskilstuna municipality, this window is between 11 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and 12:30 a.m. on New Year’s Day, and in Malmö is between New Year’s Eve at 18.00 and New Year’s Day at 02.00.
