Do you pay for YouTube Premium and still see ads? You are not alone…

YouTube is facing increasing criticism over its Premium service. Users around the world are expressing frustration as many of those who signed up for the plan – expecting an ad-free experience – continue to encounter ads in the app, on the web, and even in the TV app.

Is YouTube Premium showing ads?

A growing number of Reddit users mentioned that, despite paying for the Premium plan, keep seeing ads. Adding to your frustration, many of these ads appear to be related to Google's own services, such as Workspace. To make matters worse, there doesn't seem to be a clear solution to this problem.

YouTube has acknowledged the issue, but appears unsure of its cause. In a statement to Android Authoritythe company said:

YouTube Premium subscribers shouldn't see ads in their home feed, and we're investigating why this might be the case.

This suggests that the company is still unsure about the root of the problem and how to resolve it.

The platform's official stance is that paying for a YouTube Premium subscription should remove ads from videos and the interface. However, the support page mentions a small caveat:

YouTube Music Premium and YouTube Premium members may continue to see creator-embedded branding or promotions in podcasts. If added or enabled by the creator, you may also find promotional links, shelves, and other features in and around the content.

However, even during the videos they see advertisements...

Despite this disclaimer, the ads users report do not appear to match this description. Instead, they are seeing ads during videos and seeing advertising banners throughout the interface, which is not the type of promotion normally incorporated by content creators.

If YouTube Premium subscribers are seeing ads, the suggested solution is surprisingly simple: contact customer support. Unfortunately, the platform has not yet confirmed whether it is a bug, nor communicated if or when the problem will be resolved.

Fortunately, this issue does not appear to be widespread, affecting only a small number of users. While it may not completely disrupt the viewing experience, it's understandable that Premium subscribers - who pay specifically to avoid ads - are dissatisfied.
