When buying a smartphone, we make decisions based on several criteria. Important elements also include the battery and its durability or the possibility of fast charging. We’ve taken a look at which 2024 smartphones you absolutely shouldn’t buy if battery is a critical component for you. Server DxOMark is known for its smartphone reviews and tests, and this is the data we used.
Mobiles with the worst battery in 2024
We focused on smartphones released in 2024 to keep the list up to date. Based on the DxOMark server, these 10 mobiles got the worst scores in the battery category.
- Motorola Moto G54 5G (90 points)
- Samsung Galaxy A35 5G (101 points)
- Motorola Moto G34 5G (102 points)
- Samsung Galaxy S24 (107 points)
- Samsung Galaxy S24+ (109 points)
- Samsung Galaxy A55 5G (121 points)
- Xiaomi 14 Ultra (123 points)
- Samsung Galaxy A15 5G (127 points)
- Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra (130 points)
- Xiaomi 14 (133 points)
Flags also made the list
The mobiles that received the lowest number of points within the battery are usually cheaper models. The surprise is that this year’s flags from Samsung also made it here. A premium product for a considerable amount would deserve top components including a quality battery.
In addition to the Samsung Galaxy S24 flagships, the top ten also includes other smartphones from this manufacturer. They didn’t even see the best phones from Motorola or Xiaomi.
Motorola with the worst battery
According to the DxOMark server, the Motorola Moto G54 5G received the lowest number of points in the battery area. The total score was only 90 points. This is a mobile phone in a lower price category, which targets less demanding users.
Battery life is 2 days and 5 hours, however, DxOMark also takes other parameters into account in the final result. The battery did not show well in charging speed. It charges from zero to 80% in 1 hour and 26 minutes. A full charge takes up to 2 hours and 31 minutes. As for the autonomy of the battery, here the time is 1 hour 42 minutes after 5 minutes of charging.
Cheap Samsung rolled over the flag as well
The paradox is that the cheaper Samsung Galaxy A55 5G beat two flagships in the number of points – the Galaxy S24 and S24+ models. So it seems that even a cheaper mobile can provide the user with a decent battery that lasts. The Galaxy A55 5G scored 121 points. Battery life is 2 days and 9 hours. A full charge will take 1 hour and 43 minutes, and it can go from zero to 80% in 52 minutes. The battery autonomy is also very good, after 5 minutes of charging you get 3 hours and 29 minutes.
