Marina Kinkulkina, director of the Korsakov Clinic of Psychiatry at the Clinical Center for Health Sciences at Sechenov University of the Ministry of Health of Russia, spoke about the effectiveness of the Rorschach test.
“It consists of ten symmetrical inkblots. Patients are asked to say what they see in each picture. The method allows us to understand the patient’s mood, his fears and anxieties,” the expert said in an interview with “Gazeta.Ru”.
According to the specialist, Hermann Rorschach argued that the interpretation of inkblots can indicate a person’s unconscious experiences.
As the doctor noted, this projective psychological test cannot serve as a basis for making a diagnosis.
Currently, it is rarely used due to subjectivity and lack of reliability, the expert noted.
“The interpretation of the test results largely depends on the doctor; its validity has not been proven in scientific studies,” Kinkulkina added.
Previously, Nadezhda Solovyova, a psychiatrist and member of the Public Council on Mental Health under the Chief Psychiatrist-Expert of the Russian Ministry of Health, spoke with NSN told me how to identify depression in myself.
