Özyardımcı said that the number of city hotels in Dolapdere has increased due to its strategic location thanks to its proximity to touristic and commercial centers such as Taksim and Nişantaşı, and announced that the new 5-star hotel project with 280 beds in Dolapdere was completed with an investment of 200 million dollars.
Climate crisis benefited city hotel management
Özyardımcı, who operates Fuat Paşa Mansion Hotel and Naz City Hotel in Istanbul, stated that the location of Naz City Hotel in Dolapdere contributed to the region gaining prestige, increasing the number of visitors and developing the regional economy. While evaluating the situation of city hotels in Istanbul, Özyardımcı noted that according to the data compiled from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism accommodation statistics, the occupancy rate in certified hotels in Turkey was 71 percent in July. Stating that the occupancy rate of city hotels has reached 91 percent in the last 2.5 months and that the climate crisis is effective in this, Özyardımcı said, “Global warming and the extremely hot weather in the summer months affected the occupancy rate of city hotels. We experienced the intensity in September-October that we experienced in July. “We are currently experiencing a season we have never experienced before,” he said.
Hotel restaurants are cheaper than outside
Pointing out that hotel restaurants are cheaper than restaurants outside, Özyardımcı said, “We cannot make raises as easily as restaurant operators. Because the customer can react to this immediately. When we go to the most luxurious restaurant in Istanbul, we can match the prices of a normal restaurant. “This caused hotel restaurants to gain momentum,” he said.
There is a decrease in the nightly accommodation fee
Explaining that the average nightly accommodation fee in Istanbul was determined as 101.1 euros in September 2024, Özyardımcı said that it was 108 euros in January 2023. Özyardımcı said that if a room was sold for 200-250 euros, depending on inflation, “Istanbul would be empty right now.”
“We are part of health tourism”
Stating that tourists visiting Turkey for health purposes will purchase services worth 2.3 billion dollars in 2023, Özyardımcı pointed out that the accommodation side has a large share in this field. “We are the partners of these customers from the beginning of the surgery process to their discharge,” said Özyardımcı, adding that they provide transportation to and from the hospital by shuttle.
