Donald Trump continues his campaign… in a McDonald’s!

On October 20 in Pennsylvania, former US President Donald Trump decided to put himself in the shoes of a McDonald’s employee for a few minutes. A new attempt at discredit by the Republican candidate against his Democratic competitor Kamala Harris.

Swap your suit and tie for a fast-food apron. This is what the former American president did on Sunday, October 20, by putting himself on stage behind a McDonald’s fryer. After a short training on preparing fries, he began serving passers-by, commenting: “It is Trump who delights”.

This improbable scene took place in a small town in Pennsylvania, near Philadelphia. An act that the candidate did not do out of simple charity. It is obviously with a very specific idea and goal that he acted in this way, a few days before the American election deadline.

A publicity stunt for the Trump campaign

This communication operation comes as her Democratic rival, Kamala Harris, confided that she worked in her youth in a McDonald’s restaurant alongside her studies. But the Republican candidate doesn’t believe a word of it. Convinced that she is using this false anecdote out of pure electoral opportunism, he has decided to wear the outfit of a McDonald’s teammate himself: “I have now worked 15 minutes longer than Kamala, she has never worked here”he then mocks.

A rather well thought out operation by the candidate, who hopes to discredit his competitor through this new publicity stunt. Even if the former president has never hidden his attraction to fast food, he hopes to get closer to his voters by passing himself off as a “man of the people” and Kamala Harris… as a liar! However, there is currently no evidence that this is indeed a lie.

A feeling of déjà vu

A case which reminds us of similar facts. A few months ago, it was the former French Prime Minister, Gabriel Attal, who was found in an establishment of this same fast-food restaurant in Paris, then surrounded by a horde of bodyguards, a few days of the second round of the legislative elections (as if by chance…). This appearance then caused controversy. So, real fans of the big mac or publicity stunt for the Republican candidate and the former tenant of Matignon?
