Foreign. During a phone call between US President Donald Trump and Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen on Wednesday, Trump chose not to back off his threats to use military or economic pressure to buy Greenland. It emerged during a press conference that Frederiksen held on Thursday.

– He did not, said Mette Frederiksen, according to Danmarks Radio.

The Prime Minister briefed Denmark’s Foreign Affairs Committee on Thursday about the content of the 45-minute conversation. To the media, however, she emphasized that there is much she cannot reveal about what was said between her and the American president.

Trump, who next week returns to the White House as president, plans to continue the dialogue on Greenland after he takes office. Frederiksen did not want to speculate on whether the conversation with Trump brought the parties closer to a solution.

– We are in a serious situation and we have been for a while now, she said further.
