(Health Korea News / Soon-ho Lee) Dong-A ST (CEO Jae-hoon Jeong) participated as a sponsor in the ‘2024 KASBP 2024 Fall Symposium’ held in New Jersey, USA from the 8th to the 9th, and delivered congratulatory remarks, global recruitment, and awards to Korean scientists. It was announced on the 11th that global cooperation with Korean scientists has been strengthened.

The Korean American Society in Biotech and Pharmaceuticals (KASBP) is a non-profit organization organized with the goal of exchanging business and technical information on new drug development and life sciences, and strengthening bonds among members. It has a total of 9 branches across the United States. I am working on it. The symposium hosted by KASBP is an event held every spring and fall where Korean scientists working in the U.S. pharmaceutical and bio industry participate to share information on the pharmaceutical and bio industry and discuss the latest topics in the field of new drug development.

This fall’s symposium was held under the theme ‘Neuroscience in the Age of AI: Innovations in Understanding and Treating Neurological Disorders.’ Presentations were made by renowned researchers in the fields of artificial intelligence and neural research, and networking activities were also conducted to allow participants to share their expertise and latest information.

At the event, Dong-A ST R&D President Park Jae-hong introduced Dong-A ST’s R&D pipeline and global open innovation strategy, including anti-cancer and dementia treatment research, under the theme of ‘Leaping forward as a global pharmaceutical company through innovative new drugs.’

On this day, the company awarded the ‘Dong A ST Fellowship Award (KASBP-Dong A ST fellowship)’ to two researchers who have raised the status of Korean scientists through excellent research. This year, Dr. Joo-Hyung Park of Stanford University and Dr. Hye-Kyung Lee of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) were honored with the award.

Dr. Joo-Hyung Park was recognized for her research on ‘New functions of protein synthesis regulation in gastric cancer’, and Dr. Hye-Kyung Lee was recognized for her research on ‘The importance of STAT5B monoplasm in hematopoietic homeostasis, immune regulation, and mammary gland development’.

President Park Jae-hong said, “The KASBP Symposium has become an important venue for promising Korean scientists active in the U.S. pharmaceutical and bio industry to gather to share and learn research results.” He added, “We will continue to cooperate with KASBP to widely promote Dong-A ST’s competitiveness and encourage local Korean scientists.” “We will spare no effort in providing continuous support so that they can be active on the global stage,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dong-A ST established an open innovation center in Boston, USA in January last year and is focusing on securing differentiated competitiveness through discovering innovative technologies and global networking.
