Dongseo Foods (CEO Kim Gwang-soo) announced on the 4th that it closed the submission of entries for the ‘17th Scent of Life Dongseo Literary Award’ on the 1st.
The ‘Scent of Life Dongseo Literary Award’ is Korea’s largest literary award for new women, now in its 36th year, and is held every two years.
The 17th Scent of Life East-West Literary Award invited works in a total of four categories, including poetry, novels, essays, and children’s literature, on any subject over a period of about four months from the end of May. As a result, there was a lot of interest from prospective writers, with a total of 18,000 works submitted.
The Dongseo Literary Award screening is organized by the Korea Literary Association and is conducted in the following order: basic examination, preliminary examination, and main examination. A total of 484 winners, including the Grand Prize (1 person), Gold Award (3 people), Silver Award (8 people), and Bronze Award (12 people), are selected through strict and fair screening. The winning work will be announced on the official Dongseo Literary Award website on the 22nd.
The total prize money is 79 million won, including the grand prize of 10 million won. The grand prize winner and the gold medal winner in each category will be given the opportunity to have their work published in the comprehensive literary magazine ‘Monthly Literature’ and be eligible to join the Korean Literary Association. Works that receive bronze or higher prizes will be included in the ‘East-West Literary Award Winners Collection’ published in paper and e-book format.
Meanwhile, Dongseo Foods conducted various programs to help participants’ literary growth during the entry period. ▲Mentoring classes where you can learn from the basics of writing to practice from famous writers, ▲Mentoring bulletin boards where you can receive one-on-one writing guidance through an online bulletin board, and a creative workshop held outdoors ▲Literature camp, etc. were well received by participants.
