Don’t feel like what the algorithm presents you? From now on, Threads lets you build your own overview

Threads and Bluesky are becoming increasingly popular. Threads responds cleverly to this by reaching out to the competition. The platform is now testing a function that makes it possible to create a feed that revolves around one topic, such as football.

Bluesky, an alternative to reported Meta boss Mark Zuckerberg Friday. It is unclear whether everyone can already use the function, or whether it will be a gradual rollout.

If you open Threads, you will receive a standard ‘overview’ of messages selected for you by the algorithm. Those messages can be about anything, from football to music. If you would like your feeds to be filled with only messages about vintage cars, for example, that is now also possible.

You can add topics and profiles

You can create a new feed by clicking on the two lines at the top right of your screen. You will then receive a list of your ‘overviews’. You can create a new overview there by clicking on ‘edit’ and then ‘create new overview’. If you type something in, you will see profiles of your users that you can add to the ‘overview’. You can also add a subject, for example by typing ‘oldtimers’.

Besides being useful for seeing messages of your preference, it can also be a useful way to bypass your default algorithm. This can be nice if your standard overview contains many messages that you do not find interesting.
