Dorinel Munteanu, the coach from Oțelul Galați, spoke after the white draw with Farul about the possibility of replacing Edi Iordănescu in the national team, but he made it clear that he would not have been wanted by the people at the top of the FRF.
The Galați technician doesn’t mince his words and firmly claims that he “doesn’t get emotional” that he could be on the federal list for a possible replacement of Edi Iordănescu at the helm of Romania’s first national team.
Dorinel Munteanu let it be understood that he is not wanted at FRF to replace Edi Iordănescu
The former Romanian international is convinced that he is not liked by the people of management of the Romanian Football Federation for a possible appointment at the head of the tricolor national team, noting that he “doesn’t get emotional” about it. However, Dorinel Munteanu admits that the federals drew the winning lot when they decided to go with Iordănescu jr, the subsequent results of the national team proving them right regarding the selection of the selector.
“Honestly, it didn’t surprise me (no- Edi Iordănescu’s departure from the national team), I don’t even know… I did not comment on his departure. There are people who decide that. It was not a homework for me. It’s speculation with me. A coach at the national team must meet the criteria of the federations. I don’t get any emotion, any stress. I don’t know who he chooses… So far they have chosen well. At least this one, the last one.
I don’t think about it, honestly. Every coach wants to be in the national team, but I have a job in Galați. If my time comes, we’ll see. I am the coach of Oțelu Galati and period. Nothing more”, said Dorinel Munteanu.
Regarding the match with Farul, which ended in a draw, Dorinel Munteanu considers the score recorded on the scoreboard to be fair, with both teams having great scoring opportunities. The Galatasaray coach continues to put pressure on the club’s management and reveals that he expects another 3-4 transfers until the end of the mercato period.
“We had a very modest first half, we let the opponents quickly verticalize the game, cause us problems. We recovered in the second half, we managed to be more aggressive, not to give them space. The draw is deserved. And we, and they could score. I’m not upset.
I’m looking for the ideal formula, but I’m also looking for players. I hope the investors bring 3-4 more players. We know the quality of Farul, they always play in the play-offs, especially since they were coming after a failure at home. This point is useful before the match with FCSB”, Munteanu also declared.
The home team’s hero, excited beyond measure
Iustin Popescu, the man who kept Oțel’s goal intact in the match with Farul, says that he had great emotions at his home debut for the Galatasaray group and thanks the fans who helped him get over the trachea faster. The goalkeeper congratulates himself for his performance against the sailors and is finally satisfied with the point obtained in front of the team prepared by Gică Hagi.
“I had a lot of emotions, I knew we were meeting a good team with a good coach, I’m glad I helped my team win a point. Thanks to the supporters. I feel very good here. When we start playing football, we all want to play in the Super League. Dorinel Munteanu doesn’t need any introduction, he’s a top 10 coach,” said goalkeeper Iustin Popescu.
