New York – Anaheim hockey players with Lukáš Dostál in goal lost 2:3 in Edmonton. The reigning world champion from Prague stopped 23 shots and was voted the second star of the game. Dostál scored the decisive goal a minute and a half before the end from the German gunner and the best scorer of this NHL season, Leon Draisaitl. Chicago without Petr Mrázek beat Montreal 4:2. Brandon Saad led the St. Louis to a 4-0 win over Ottawa.
Anaheim trailed by two goals after 28 minutes, but Brett Leason and Jackson LaCombe tied the game early in the third period. Draisaitl decided the win for the Oilers at 58:25 with his 28th hit of the season. Edmonton is fifth in the Western Conference, Anaheim thirteenth.
The Blackhawks won after five games. Arvid Söderblom was given priority over Mrázek and faced 40 shots from Montreal players, two of which he missed. Chicago was given the lead by Tyler Bertuzzi, and after Cole Caufield’s answer, the home team scored twice: 37-year-old Nick Foligno and a year younger Patrick Maroon. Emil Heineman gave Montreal hope in the power play, but Foligno secured the win in the 56th minute. Goalkeeper Jakub Dobeš waited in vain for a chance at the Canadiens substitution.
In winning St. Louis over Ottawa, Jordan Binnington picked up his third clean sheet of the season and the eighteenth of his career. Together with him, the American striker Saad shone with a hat trick. He improved to seven goals this season.
Florida lost the lead twice against Pittsburgh, but eventually overcame it on separate runs, 3-2. Rickard Rakell sent the game into overtime with forty seconds left on the power play. Only the players of the defending Stanley Cup champions: Sam Reinhart and Anton Lundell made their mark in raids. Forward Tomáš Nosek played roughly seven minutes for Florida and recorded one shot on goal.
