The week starts with beautiful and creative news, and personally I am very happy that Dimitra Papadima continues this theater season too “The portrait” of Penelope Deltaa work that really captivates you as it brings to light unknown aspects of the author.

“The portrait” of Dimitra Papadima in text and interpretation by herself and directed by Thalassini Vostanzoglou is coming to Papagou Garden Theater on Thursday September 12 while throughout the winter he will travel to different cities.

It is a play- tribute to Penelope Delta and all the roles of her life. A poetic and human performance, which reveals the darkness of Penelope Delta’s daughter, woman, artist, wife, mother and lover – with details that we might not have known until now and truths that had been forgotten over the years.

A few words about the project

Penelope Delta talks on stage with the people in her life, her sensitivities, her pains and her repressed things, without subtexts and half-sentences. She writes and tears up her impermissible passions, she settles for the little although she never stops looking for the “whole” and in the end all she is left with and looking for is death. Searching for the meaning of existence, she calls him more than once, claims him and loves him. With invisible “co-protagonists” her mother and father, her children, her husband Stefanos Delta and her great love Iona Dragoumi, Penelope for a unique time says what she did not dare to say all her life, she discusses with them and with herself, she blames everyone, herself and ultimately life itself. Through the performance, the big issue of our days is touched upon. The relationship with the parents and especially the Mother. Penelope Delta suffered from Maternal Insufficiency. Her well-known works are also mentioned in the show. As well as the moment and situations that inspired her to write.

A day later, on Friday, September 13 the actress who is also a writer will be found in Areos Field at 20:30 in the evening, as part of the 52nd Book Festival where she will present her latest book entitled “All Black” together with the actor Reno Charalambidis while excerpts will be read by Yiannis Bostanzoglou.
