Down is recording the long-awaited new album

Sludge metal veterans, Downare recording their first new music in more than ten years. The longtime supergroup from New Orleans brings together the singer Philip Anselma (Pantera) together with guitarists Pepperom Keenanom (Corrosion of Conformity) i Kirkom Windsteinom (Crowbar), among others.

The composition of Down is supplemented by a drummer Jimmy Bower (Crowbar, Eyehategod, Superjoint Ritual) and bassist Pat Bruders (Crowbar, Goatwhore). The group’s last release was an EP Down IV – Part II from 2014.

On Friday (Jan. 3), Bower posted a photo of Windstein and Keenan in the studio, writing, “Kirk and Pep making magic today.”

Back in November, Windstein stated on a podcast That Metal Interview (according to Blabbermouth), “I’ve been in the Down world for the last few months, writing and finishing songs for an album to be released in 2025. We’ve got 10 new songs, folks. It’s great.”
