DPD and GLS are bundling their parcel vault networks

Parcel deliverers DPD and GLS are entering into a strategic partnership in Germany in which they will connect their networks of wall safes and acceptance points.

The parties thus increase their reach to customers and online stores and in the process offer an alternative to market leader Deutsche Post DHL.

What is special about it is that the parcel stations are offered as an open system to all market participants and parcel services. Any interested third parties can join. This will be particularly interesting for smaller and more regionally bound logistics specialists.

The construction of the national network of parcel stations will start soon and must be done by the end of 2025 a thousand connected parcel stations. In total, the companies aim to build a partner network of approximately twenty thousand out-of-home points by 2027.

Today they each have around eight thousand parcel delivery and acceptance points. These are also counters in shops.

GLS Group is German, DPD is a label of the French La Poste.
