DR meets the Government for a new plant in Molise

Molise does not exist is a meme that has been circulating on the internet for years. Phrases and cartoons about the region squeezed between Abruzzo, Puglia, Lazio and Campania which instead plays a role in Italian automotive market and aims to gain ever greater importance.

Not a feeling but what emerged following the meeting between the Minister of Made in Italy Adolfo Urso and Massimo Di Risio, founder and president of the DR Automobiles Group. At the center of the meeting is the energy transition of the automotive sector and – even more importantly – the development plans of DR in Italy.

Molise exists

Industrial development with Molise at the center. According to what was declared by Mimit in fact Macchia d’Isernia plant (and not the one in Termoli, as erroneously reported by some) would have been discussed between the parties. However, the details are not known.

The following provided some previews: Sun 24 Hours. According to the newspaper, Dr is planning a major investment, also thanks to possible public incentives, to build a new production plant dedicated to electric and hybrid cars (also LPG, a fuel that DR has been focusing on for years). The various DR brands would thus see their ranges expanded, welcoming various battery-powered models to compete with the ever-increasing number of models – even with prices below 25,000 euros – coming soon. Relying on the know-how of Chinese manufacturers.

As per agreements with various brands such as Chery, Baic and Dongfeng, the components would come from China, to then be assembled in the new production lines. Again according to Il Sole DR would thus intend to significantly modify its production model.

When asked by us, the House did not anticipate any content of the meeting with the Ministry.

<span class=In search of the million

The aim of the Government remains the same as that declared some time ago: to reach one million cars produced in Italy. A topic that has also been discussed in recent months with Stellantis and which has led the executive to seek investments also from Chinese manufacturers, without however reaching a definitive agreement yet.

DR’s intentions anticipated by Il Sole 24 Ore would certainly help Minister Urso to pursue the objective, with positive effects on employmentnot only directly but also with regards to the induced effects.
