Drama at the Titanic: A tourist submarine was lost with people on board

According to available information, OceanGate’s Titan vessel, which costs $250,000 per person to participate in the expedition, is missing. The submarine holds five people and usually has enough air for the crew for four days. It is not yet known where the authorities lost contact with the machine.

News TV Sky News stated that British billionaire Hamish Harding is among the participants of the expedition. French pilot Paul-Henry Nargeolet and OceanGate founder Stockton Rush are to be in the submarine with him.

Trips to the wreck last several days and cost tens of thousands of dollars. One descent and subsequent ascent to the Titanic is said to take around eight hours.

The famous wreck lies 3,800 meters deep at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. It is located about 600 kilometers off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada.

The Titanic sank during its first and last voyage on April 15, 1912. The immediate cause of the disaster, which claimed over 1,500 lives, was the gigantic ship’s collision with an iceberg.

The ship was once again in the news in 1985 when it was discovered at the bottom of the ocean. But originally, experts paid by the US military were looking for something completely different underwater.

On September 1, 1985, at 0:38 a.m., footage of a ship that had not been seen for over 70 years appeared on the screens in the Knorr. An expedition led by American oceanographer Robert Ballard discovered the wreck of the Titanic, the most famous ship of all time.

But the discovery of the legendary ship was only a “by-product”. Originally, the expedition was looking for something completely different. The subject of the investigation were the lost nuclear submarines Thresher and Scorpion. The US Navy, which covered much of the cost of the expedition, however, welcomed the news of the Titanic’s discovery. It used her as a convenient cover story to cover up its operation.

The most famous ship of all time may face another disaster more than a hundred years after it sank. The legendary Titanic is being eaten away by underwater bacteria and in ten years nothing will be left of the wreck. Humanity thus has a few years left to carry out any efforts to retrieve the wreckage.
