The impressive marble quarries in the area of Volakas, in the municipality of Kato Nevrokopi in mountainous Drama, were the ideal setting for filming a new film with popular protagonists such as Vincent Cassel, Anya Taylor-Joy ), Chris Evans (Chris Evans), Salma Hayek (Salma Hayek) and Sam Richardson (Sam Richardson).

The shooting of the film is expected to start today, however, there is absolute secrecy about the case and the arrival of the actors in the remote area. Speaking to APE-MBE, the president of the hoteliers’ association of Drama and gen. secretary of the Panhellenic Federation of Hoteliers, Angelos Kallias, emphasizes that the technical crews of this large production and the auxiliary staff have arrived in Drama for days to prepare the production.
“More than 150 people are already in our area,” emphasizes Mr. Kallias and adds: “for the needs of the film, around two hundred rooms in the wider area have been closed off from the production. From what we have been informed, so far, the filming will take place in the quarries of Volakas, in an arcade that has been configured appropriately for the needs of the film”.
A few months ago, the production had held an audition in Drama, asking for young people who would like to be part of the film. Some, in fact, were selected and are expected to participate in the film.

Although little information about the case has been released to date, it is an action film with a central theme of climate change and environmental protection. The film is being shot on behalf of the well-known subscription platform Netflix, while the script and direction are signed by Romain Gavras (son of Costas Gavras) and Will Arbury, writer and producer at Succession.
For the needs of this large production, the filming of which will last until November 2nd, special platforms and auxiliary areas have been set up in one of the quarries of Volakas, while filming will also take place on the road leading to the ski resort of Falakros. Also, according to leaked information, scenes of the film will also be shot in studios in neighboring Bulgaria.
Angelos Kallias, speaking to APE-MBE, underlines that thanks to the Short Film Festival, Drama has entered the ranks of international producers, further strengthening its cultural identity and increasing the interest of production companies to discover it and highlight the comparative its advantages. However, the popular actress Mimi Denisi seems to have chosen Drama for shooting scenes for her new series.

It should be noted that this is the second time that the area of Drama has been chosen for the filming of an international production. The first was in 2022, when a film called “Tin Soldier” was shot, which for bureaucratic reasons has not yet been shown. For the needs of that film, filming had taken place in the impressive building of the Tobacco Institute (built in 1930), in the cave of Agitis as well as in areas of the verdant municipality of Paranesti.
However, the local actors of Drama state that they are particularly satisfied with the new production that is being filmed. They note that the producers of motion pictures included the area in their planning, sending the message that they were satisfied, both with the natural environment and the beauties and with the hospitality, comforts and conveniences provided to them during the filming.
