The President of the Committee for Defense and Internal Affairs of the Serbian Parliament, Milovan Drecun, assessed that the measures and demands related to Kosovo, which were presented by the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić on Friday, represent a platform for a long-term response to the current crisis, especially in the north, as well as to unilateral moves. authorities in Pristina.

Drecun stated for Tanjug that these measures and demands defined strong support for the Serbian people in the coming period, so that they could defend themselves against the attempts of Aljbin Kurti and his regime to expel them from Kosovo.

He added that the measures and demands presented by Vučić completely clearly defined the attitude towards the dialogue, which are Serbia’s conditions in order for progress to be made in the continuation of the dialogue.

– It is requested that these unilateral activities, which are completely contrary to the Brussels Agreement of 2013 and harmful to the survival, security and daily life of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija, especially in the north, be canceled and that the situation be returned to the state it was before those unilateral measures. This is something that is extremely important, which will be the most difficult to implement, because Aljbin Kurti will definitely try not to withdraw some of the measures he introduced, but to further complicate the situation, to provoke further incidents, to terrorize the Serbian people – said Drecun.

He added that the Serbian state thus defined a completely peaceful political platform, as well as that concrete measures of support for the Serbian people were defined, so that they could survive in Kosovo.

– A new law will be passed, which will define Kosovo and Metohija as a zone of support for special social protection, in order to make it possible to help people who lose their jobs, because Pristina tries and succeeds to a significant extent to block the work of Serbian institutions. It is also stipulated that no acts, which are institutions that were formed after the unilaterally declared independence of ‘Kosovo’, are not to be respected… this is our platform of not accepting the unilaterally declared independence of ‘Kosovo’ and not accepting any legal consequences that this unilateral act there is – pointed out Drecun.

He assessed that the decision to form a special prosecutor’s office that will prosecute, as he says, those who physically mistreat and threaten the survival of Serbs in Kosovo, is of particular importance, which, in his opinion, may bring a certain result to stop the terror against the Serbian people.

– Bearing in mind the situation regarding the dialogue, that it has been numbed, that it has been rendered meaningless by Pristina due to those unilateral moves, bearing in mind the announcement that Pristina will not want to accept a trilateral meeting at the next meeting in Brussels scheduled for Tuesday, then it is very important that our position is completely clear, compact, that it is strong and that it is set for the long term… in order to let it be known, especially to those Western patrons of Pristina, that it cannot go on like this, that we will protect our people, that we will undertake extremely strong international activities – said Drecun.

He stated that the announced diplomatic activity of Serbia in this matter shows a very strong will and determination of Belgrade to make the world aware of the unacceptable violation of basic human rights and endangering the survival of the Serbian people on the international level.

– I think that after this, many people, especially in the West, will have to think carefully about whether they will continue to provide unequivocal support to Aljbin Kurti for the unilateral measures he is implementing, or whether they will try to restrain him, whether they would allow the dialogue to continue and some kind of progress is achieved in everything and that the most important thing is to stop the terror against the Serbian people – said Drecun.

If there is a grain of political rationality in the leading Western countries, he added, they would have to think about the Serbian demands and influence Aljbin Kurti to take a different path.

– If there is a will in the West to stabilize the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, to reduce the possibility of causing incidents and conflicts, to respect the interests and survival of the Serbian people, they will certainly put some pressure on Kurti. If in the West, in those leading Western countries, there is a will to put pressure on the official Belgrade, to accept the Franco-German agreement proposal in all its points, including the two that are not acceptable for us, then the West will continue to tolerate this kind of Kurti behavior and will not act preventively to prevent him from some new intentions, perhaps to attack the education system, the health system – said Drecun.

He explained that any pressure Aljbin Kurti puts on the Serbian people represents an extraordinary pressure on Belgrade, and that he is saying that if Belgrade does not accept the French-German agreement proposal, i.e. if it does not meet the political demands of the West, and of Pristina itself, that the terror against the Serbs will be maximized strengthen.

When asked to explain how a part of the local public came to the opinion that Serbia should declare the occupation of its southern province, Drecun replied that it was clearly launched in a planned manner and assessed that it was extremely irresponsible and that it represented an attempt to lead Serbia into a wrong a move and something that would in no way contribute to the improvement of the position of the Serbian people in Kosovo.

– If you have resolution 1244 which is in force, for which we advocate and ask that others also respect it, if we have a civilian, albeit very symbolic, UN presence through UNMIK, a military presence through KFOR, if we know that based on that resolution, Kosovo and Metohija is under the protectorate of the United Nations, then it is completely illogical to declare that Kosovo and Metohija are under occupation, and on the other hand to insist that resolutions 1244 are respected – he concluded.
