Dropshipper Ortho-relief stops after complaints

Dropshipper Ortho-relief from Assen is ceasing its activities after intervention by regulator ACM. The owner has also started reimbursing affected consumers. The complaints concerned the quality of the products – orthopedic shoes delivered directly from China – as well as the delivery time, the poor accessibility of customer service and the refund.

The ACM advises consumers who are still entitled to a refund to quickly contact the webshop as it will be shut down on November 1.

More and more online stores are using dropshipping. This means that they sell products that they do not have in stock, but which a third party – often in China – sends directly to the customer.

This is allowed if the dropshipper is clear about this and adheres to the rules for online sales, such as: clearly stating the actual delivery time, if the product is delivered by another party from another country, this must be included with the product are mentioned. Online stores located in the Netherlands must also provide a return address in the Netherlands. If the online store is located outside the Netherlands, the consumer must be informed of the return address before purchasing. It must also be stated in advance who will be responsible for the return costs.
