Drug production on an industrial scale was shut down near St. Petersburg

Security forces seized half a ton of powdery substance.

A large drug laboratory was dismantled in the Leningrad region. The operation was carried out by SOBR soldiers together with operatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the press service of the Russian Guard of St. Petersburg reported.

A suspect in organizing drug production on an industrial scale was also detained.

It was established that for his business the man rented two hangars, which were fenced with a concrete wall with barbed wire. In addition, the objects were under video surveillance.

During the operation, security forces discovered industrial equipment and more than 500 kg of a powdery substance. The examination confirmed that these were drugs.

In turn, official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Irina Volk clarified that the production of prohibited substances was located in one of the industrial zones of the Gatchina municipal district.

A criminal case has been initiated on the basis of a crime under Part 3 of Article 30 and Part 5 of Article 228.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The organizer of the drug laboratory was arrested, she added.

Earlier it was reported that a ton of cocaine worth 3.5 billion rubles was seized near St. Petersburg, which was being transported to Europe.
